Also known as therapeutic hypnosis, hypnotherapy is a time-tested technique for improving a wide spectrum of conditions and alleviating
symptoms. A trained hypnotherapist uses relaxation and focus exercises to help you enter a hypnotic state. This is a state of consciousness
where you are exceptionally alert and, at the same time, very relaxed. In this state, you are more responsive to ideas and suggestions.
If you want to quit smoking, for example, or overcome a fear of public speaking, you are more receptive to initiating the changes you need to
make when you’re in a hypnotic state. Think of it as planting a seed during your hypnotherapy session. Later, as you go about your day to day
activities, this “idea seed” continues to grow, giving you the inner drive you need to reach your goal!
When you are in a hypnotic state, your body is relaxed and your mind is fully awake. Even though we use the term "SLEEP" frequently in a
session, you are actually never asleep, but rather extremely relaxed. And in this combination it is ideal for cementing ideas such as, “I will lose
weight,” or “I will free myself from the fear that’s holding me back.” Under hypnosis, you are extra receptive to the power of suggestion. Rest
assured, you will never do anything that you don’t want to do. But you will be able to overcome mental blocks and emotional obstacles that are
preventing you from living life to the fullest.
Lots of rumours have been spread about hypnotherapy: "The therapist will control your mind... The therapist can make you do things against
your will..." . I can assure you that those are just rumours. Any respectable therapist would not even think about silly things like that.
As a hypnotist I can not make you do anything against your ethics, values, or beliefs. But you will need to agree to be hypnotised.
What happens during a visit?
During your first visit, you will be asked about your medical history and what brought you in - what condition/issue you would like to address. I
will explain to you what hypnosis is and how it works. You will then be directed through relaxation techniques, using a series of mental images
and suggestions intended to change behaviors and relieve symptoms. For example, people who have panic attacks may be given the suggestion
that, in the future, they will be able to relax whenever they want.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
Each session lasts about an hour, and most people start to see results within a few sessions, depending on the severity of your issue. You and I
will monitor and evaluate your progress over time. If I would go by 'average', I would say that in some instances 1-2 sessions will achieve the
desired changes. More deep rooted issues may require 3-4 sessions. But as I do not want to create a therapist/client dependency, it is therefore
important to me to help you resolve an issue quickly and professionally in the shortest space of time.
